Turntable DUAL 1215 with DUAL HS43 amplifier and loudspeakers
Dual 1215 turntable with Dual HS43 amplifier, complete with loudspeakers. German production from the early 70s. Pleasant, full sound and design from those years. Fully functional.
We offer a rare, well-preserved and fully functional audio set from Dual (Germany). It consists of: the Dual HS43 amplifier with the Dual 1215 turntable. We complement it with two loudspeakers (German production, probably Heco). The whole, in the version with walnut veneer, is fully functional, ready to play sound. The equipment has undergone a professional service inspection and is fully functional.
On request, we can prepare a turntable for use in the USA free of charge (replacement of the motor pulley and change of electrical connections and adaptation of the motor to 110 - 125 V, 60 Hz).
The following description characterizes the individual components:
Dual HS43 amplifier with Dual 1215 turntable:
Dual 1215 - a traditional idler drive turntable, manufactured in the early 1970s.
All functions work properly. The turntable can use a record changer spindle - it allows you to automatically listen to several records, one after the other (spindle not included).
The turntable is after a complete technical review and renovation - the old grease has been removed, the entire mechanism has been cleaned and re-lubricated. All its elements have been checked and subjected to appropriate service and calibration. The engine has undergone a comprehensive technical inspection and lubrication - it maintains the correct speed. The arm lift grease has been replaced with a new one, the lift works with the correct resistance. The anti-interference capacitor in the power supply path has been replaced with a new one.
Dual 1215 - is fully automatic: it allows you to start playing the record with one lever, after the end of listening, the arm automatically returns to the starting position. You can also initiate a start or stop manually.
The turntable allows you to listen to vinyl records at three speeds: 33 1/3, 45 and 78 rpm. The latter allows you to listen to older shellac records (using the appropriate cartridge). A separate switch can be used to select the diameter of the played discs: 17, 25 and 30 cm (6.69, 9.84, 11.81 in). In addition, the turntable is equipped with the "Pitch-Control" function regulating the motor speed and has an integrated, maintenance-free "Anti-Skating" regulation.
The whole thing works properly and offers a balanced, cultured sound. It has normal signs of use and only a few minor scratches on the case. Original, used DUAL DMS210 cartridge installed. The needle is original, in very good condition. The headshell accepts all 1/2 inch cartridges weighing from 1 to 8 g - including fasteners. Data about cartridge and needle are given on the basis of electrical and microscopic measurements.
Upgrades:
- the old arm wiring was replaced with a new copper "litz wire" 7 x 0,07 mm (0.003 in), cotton braid
- the anti-interference capacitor in the power supply path has been replaced with a new one.
Basic technical data - DUAL 1215
- Power supply: 110 - 125V; 220 - 240V; 50 - 60 Hz - depending on the installed motor pulley. Standard set to 220V, 50Hz.
- Motor: 4-pole, induction, single-phase; with flexible suspension.
- Drive: idler drive.
- Speeds: 33 1/3, 45 and 78 rpm.
- Choice of disc size: 17, 25 and 30 cm (6.69, 9.84, 11.81 in)
- Pitch adjustment range: 6% on each of the three speeds (approx. 1 musical semitone).
- Arm: aluminum, balanced in all three axes; precise suspension with extremely low mass (bearing friction in the horizontal axis - less than 0.04 g , in the vertical axis - less than 0.01 g).
- Platter: antimagnetic; 2 kg (4.4 lb).
- Wow and flutter: less than +/- 0.12%.
- Rumble (DIN 45500), weighted: > 57 dB.
Dual HS43 amplifier:
The amplifier has undergone a full service inspection. Some elements (capacitors, transistors) were replaced with new ones, which due to their age did not keep the proper parameters. The final stage quiescent current has been adjusted.
It has been cleaned and the housing and its veneer refreshed. All functions work as intended. Potentiometers have been cleaned and work properly. Technical details are contained in the enclosed service manual. In addition to listening to the turntable, you can connect external audio sources to the amplifier (Tape/Aux - 5DIN sockets) or PC - after using the appropriate adapter. The housing and knobs have normal signs of use - minor scratches and scuffs. The dustcover is new, not original, from the "Simple Cover" series. The amplifier has a working headphone output.
German-made loudspeakers: Hi-Fi Kompaktbox (2 x 25/35 W, 5 Ohm); no manufacturer markings (probably Heco):
The loudspeakers have been technically inspected and are fully operational. All speakers are working properly. The crossovers are after measurements, they hold the parameters correctly. The rubber speaker mounts are in perfect condition. The housings have been cleaned and refreshed with appropriate preparations. The columns have normal traces of use; one of the columns on the right side has a few deeper scratches (visible in the photo); on the bottom surface (from the side of the floor) both columns have scratches and scuffs - visible in the photo. Silvery front grilles in very nice condition, without damage. The connecting cables are approx. 4.5 m (14.76 ft) long.
